cannot open DB connection PGNP 1.4 was created by olla
Hello,
We are using Intellisoft OLE DB Provider for PostgreSQL and we often see this error: 0x80004005 Cannot open DB connection.
Many people here think it can be caused by a network timeout. So i try to run ICMP ping to the destination and while this error appear, there is 0% packetloss to the destination. Also i think the timeout expire is around 15sec.
We also try to check the logs at postgresql side, but there is nothing related to this connection.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it don't.
Please see attached the error.
If you have any idea what it could be / how to diagnose ill be happy to know it.
Thanks you,

Hello,
please collect trace in PGNProfiler while connection is made. The trace will contain detailed reason on why connection cannot be made (missing password, timeout, connection refused, etc.).
In case there is a timeout issue, please specify "Connection Timeout" in the SSIS Connection Manager.
Feel free to email the trace and additional info to our Support.

Launch PGNProfiler utility from Start->Intellisoft OLEDB Provider menu, or from folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Intellisoft\PGNP. Then click triangle button in Toolbar to start capture. If capturing trace from linked server, then launch PGNProfiler as Administrator. Additional info can be found in the Develeoper's Manual (available from Download page).
