Performance of PGOLEDB compared to other drivers? was created by philipp.johannis
Hi,
I would like to know if there is a white paper or a data sheet which compares the performance of the PGOLEDB with other PostgreSQL drivers, i.e. the ODBC. The reason I am asking for this is because with the trial version we can't compare the performance due to the limitation to 100 rows. But a superior performance would be the main reason to buy the server edition. Maybe it would be possible to get an "extended" trial with a limit of 10,000 rows?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Philipp

Hi Philipp,
we compared performance of OLEDB vs ODBC vs libpq. In most cases OLEDB is noticeably faster than ODBC, but 3-5% slower than libpq. The performance advantage varies on the different fields types in a table, row size, and number of rows. Please contact Support to obtain a temporary unlimited version of the OLEDB provider to perform comparison.
Thank you
